At
the end of this month I finish working
in Quattro Castella after fourteen years. The thing I will miss most will be
the wonderful countryside above the town. It was nice to get away from the
world and take a walk at midday in the nature reserve above the town after a stressful
morning at work.
One
of the most magical places in this reserve is the Olive Grove behind the Castle
of Bianello.The
presence of an olive grove in our temperate climate zone is quite unusual for
northern Italy. Historical texts tell us that olive trees were already present
during the middle ages in this area which has a rare microclimate caused by a
yellow clay outcrop that protects plants from cold winds from the north. The
position of this grove is warmed by the sun for almost the entire day.

I have
photographed this place many times, but the photographs I took this week were
the first that I have been satisfied with.
