The Ceramic Cloud

On a roundabout  in Casalgrande near Reggio Emilia, between a huge ceramic tile factory  and a railway marshalling yard stands  a curious piece of architecture by the Japanese “Archistar”  Kengo Kuma.

Being  such an interesting structure in the middle of such ugly surroundings it seem like an interesting photographic  challenge.

The structure paid for by the adjacent ceramics firm "Casalgrande Padana" is made up of glazed porcelain tiles held together with steel supports  making it unusual that it uses  floor tiles in a structural role. It is interesting how the form changes as one moves around the structure.

The interaction with the water let me get some abstract shots
