Autumn at Carpineti

It has been a very wet Autumn here this year. During a break in the bad weather I visited Carpineti Castle and did a favourite short walk along walk along a crest which leads to San Vitale

The castle once very important during the Lombard Queen, Matilda di Canossa's reign commands breathtaking views across a vast area of the mid Appennine mountains above Reggio Emilia.

For the first time I managed to climb the castle keep to enjoy the views. Not much remains of the castle but is worth visiting for its setting.

For the second part of my visit I just wanted to enjoy the colours of Autumn.
